With the recent launch of the Autel Evo Max 4T, we have been busy learning every button and every option on this amazing drone. This drone has gained quite the popularity around our office and we wanted to put it up against one of our favorite drones, the DJI M30T. Now, side by side and visually, there are a lot of differences in these drones, but we wanted to test out the clarity and comparison of the camera systems. The DJI M30T boasts a 200x zoom while the Autel Evo Max 4T is at 160x.

We did 3 range tests and one thermal test. For the range tests we captured a utility pole at 253 feet and 50ft altitude, a bucket lift at 1050 feet and 50ft altitude, and a high rise condo at 2.45 miles at 252 feet in altitude. These tests were performed with about 3 feet of lateral separation between the aircraft and both at the exact altitudes during the tests.

The first test that you see here on the screen has the DJI M30T on the left and the Autel Evo Max 4T on the right. This is the utility pole at a distance of 253 feet with 50 foot altitude on the aircraft. You can see that there is a better white balance and color translation with the M30T, but as far as the zoom goes, the Autel is doing extremely well compared to the M30T here. Moving out to the bucket lift, we are now distanced out at 1050 feet with the same 50 foot altitude. You can obviously see the heat in the air, and the clear color translation of the M30T, but once again, on the zoom, they are both fairly similar in the distance that they can close. The M30T is going in a bit closer to do the extra 40x zoom capabilities.

The long range test is the high rise condo at 2.45 miles and a 252 aircraft altitude. There are not a lot of differences between the two here and the zoom increase on the Max 4T is as smooth as can be. It’s not delayed or segmented in any way. It rolls from 1x to 160x without any hesitation.

The last test is the thermal camera comparison. Both drones were at 179 feet in altitude and in the white hot thermal setting. Once again, you can see that there are not a lot of differences in the quality between the two drones. There is a bit more quality on the thermal camera on the M30T, but it is a larger thermal sensor so that is to be expected.

Our take on this one is that the M30T is the winner of this test from a color and clarity standpoint, but is it a $5000 more expensive winner? It’s not. The Autel Evo Max 4T at $8999 in our opinion, is the overall winner from a cost and overall quality standpoint.

These are just our opinions and not based on any influence from anyone outside of our office and we will continue to test, compare, and evaluate the Autel Evo Max4T versus every other drone in it’s category.
