NP242 is full time 2wd and 4wd with 'locked' 4hi output option and 4LO all controlled with manual shifter.
NP249 is full time AWD that uses the same gear set as 242, but a sealed viscous coupler instead of manual shifting.
NP247 is full time AWD that uses 'quadradrive' variable front output via clutch pack for the front output and no second gear set like the other 2 cases.
