Autologous stem cell transplant is a procedure in which healthy blood stem cells from your own body are used to replace diseased or damaged bone marrow. In some circles, an autologous stem cell transplant is referred to as an autologous bone marrow transplant. Autologous stem cell transplants are typically performed on patients who must undergo high doses of chemotherapy and radiation in order to cure their diseases.
