Wooden boat CONSTANCE is launched (incl. sailing footage)

Ben Harris' latest wooden boat has been launched! Earlier – in the spring of 2022 – the 34-foot gaff cutter yacht named CONSTANCE was launched in Gweek Quay Boatyard, on the Helford river near Falmouth in Cornwall.

Watch the well-attended launch in this video which is narrated by Simon Wisker, who commissioned this traditional new-build yacht.

In this video, Simon lays out the design of CONSTANCE, which he developed with Ben Harris and naval architect Jack Gifford. He discusses the features of the Falmouth quay punt CURLEW and deep-drafted working boats, which allow for a voluminous interior and sea-kindly characteristics.

Simon also explains getting involved and hands-on in building CONSTANCE and what it was like working alongside Ben Harris and his team.

Watch as CONSTANCE glides through the waters off Pendennis Point and the Carrick Roads in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Ben Harris & Co Wooden Boats use traditional boatbuilding techniques to build (new) sailing yachts and traditional boats, restore motor and sailing yachts, including smaller craft – dingies and yacht tenders – as well as making masts and spars in their workshops.
