(31 Oct 2019) British prime minister Boris Johnson visited a primary school on Thursday as the country's political parties went into campaign mode for December's election.
Johnson sat with groups of children and spoke to teachers.
At one point he appeared to be making a quip about former London mayor Ken Livingstone as well as Labour Party MP and Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell.
Johnson was helping children sort pictures of London into "past" and "present".
He appeared to hold up a picture and suggested it was a picture of the British capital from the past. Somebody then appears to say that the city looked "dirtier" in the picture.
"That was when (former London mayor) Ken Livingstone was running it. That was before considerable improvements," he joked.
Johnson took over as Mayor of London from Livingstone in 2008.
He stayed in the position until 2016, when he quit to become an MP.
At the school, the prime minister proceeded to start making a joke about John McDonnell - a top aide to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn - before being stopped by a woman off-camera.
He also told the children that medieval Londoners would "stick decapitated heads of enemies on spikes".
