I purchased these based on the review on CNET as a secondary set, for something different to listen to than my main speakers (which have horns for mids and tweeters).
They offer great detail, a wide soundstage, and precise imaging, very surprising considering the price point. They like a good deal of power and pair well with a 100 WPC 4 ohm capable amp.
Bass has a lot of presence and is punchy without being boomy. Well recorded material played through these always brings a smile to my face. If youre on the fence at all I recommend purchasing a pair, you cant go wrong considering the price.
These are the first tower speakers I’ve ever owned. They fill my living room with warm and ambient audio that’s pretty addictive!
The previous speakers I was listening to were Sony’s highly-rated CC-SC3 bookshelf speakers, and they sounded good but did not provide a full spectrum audio experience like these do, at least not without adding a sub.
So, as nice as the Sonys sound, these Daytons surpass them in their overall sonic presentation. Highly recommended! (Update: Jan. 2020, I’ve had these speakers for 6 months now.
In the past few weeks, I was becoming a little bored with their sound so I decided to upgrade to better speaker cabling and this did seem to help improve things a little.
But, I decided to try toeing them in slightly and this made a much bigger difference!
Loving them again so just a lesson to others who may feel their sound system is lacking, simply experiment with moving your speakers around - you might be surprised at the results you get for free!
