Footing Steel Binding (Rebar Binding for Footings):

Purpose:
To secure the rebar in the correct shape and position before pouring concrete for a footing. This ensures the foundation has the necessary strength and stability.

Steps:

1. Cut and Bend Rebar: Based on the structural drawing.


2. Position Rebar: Set the bottom mesh and vertical bars according to the layout.


3. Tie the Rebar:

Use binding wire (usually 16 or 18 gauge).

Tie intersections using a plier (typically a "nipper" or tying pliers).

Common tie types: saddle tie, figure-8 tie, or cross tie.



4. Maintain Cover: Use cover blocks to maintain the correct concrete cover (usually 50mm for footing).


5. Check Layout: Make sure the steel is placed as per drawing specs (spacing, lap length, anchorage).
