Master The Classics: Americano

Описание к видео Master The Classics: Americano

Not only is the Americano delicious, it also gave birth to the Negroni, a cocktail that is definitely having a moment in drinking culture right now.

The Americano itself was born out of another drink: the Milano-Torino which is equal parts Campari from Milan and Sweet Vermouth from Torino these are put in a glass and served over ice. In 1860's a man by the name of Gaspare Campari would serve this drink at his bar in Milan, but he served it tall and lengthened it with soda. Later in the 1920's the drink was renamed the Americano due to it's popularity with American tourists.

Another fun little fact is that Ian Flemming also had a fascination with this drink. Although the James Bond book Casino Royale popularized another cocktail: The Vesper, the Americano is the first drink ordered by Bond in the same book
