Dr. Niranjan Banka (Hepato-Gastrologist), Bombay Hospital(BHIMS), Mumbai talks about the difference between Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD). He said that UC is a disease of the large intestine (colon) and patients of UC have symptoms like bloody diarrhea, fever, joint pain and systemic toxicity. Whereas CD is basically is a disease of the small intestine but can affect any part of the body from mouth to rectum. CD causes diarrhea (not bloody), joint pain and mouth ulcers.
