Cubane Monocarboxylic acid. We prepared for this treacherous journey for more than a year. In this video we are preparing cyclopentanone ethylene Ketal which is the first step towards our goal. To make the ketal we will need to reflux cyclopentanone, ethylene glycol, benzene and p toluenesulfonic acid while continuously removing water using a dean stark apparatus via azeotropic distillation. The product will be purified using vacuum distillation.
