This is the free Woolwich Ferry that is used by cars, vans and small trucks as well as pedestrians to cross the River Thames. This is one of the methods of crossing the river along with the multitude of bridges and tunnels along the river.

This was my first time taking the GT-86 boxer on this service, or any ferry for that matter.

The service is provided by Transport for London. The north end terminal is located just south of London City Airport LCY's runway.

The service runs till 20:00 daily. Vehicles use the ferry's main deck while pedestrians use the lower deck. Vehicles board the ferry at one end and alight at the opposite end, thereby speeding up the loading and unloading process. The ferry itself is diesel powered.
