The Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) is a dynamic test that requires strength, flexibility, and proprioception. It is a measure of dynamic balance that provides and can be useful for tracking improvements in patient function.

Using upper body reaches the SEBT tests more elements of trunk control combined with spinal and hip flexibility and can be used with clients who suffer from back pain or may be at risk of fall related injuries.

Using the MAT the client stands on one leg and reaches with both hands as far as they can across different angulations. Results are compared from side to side.
