This Ramadan vlog documents my first day of Ramadan in London as a British Muslim, fasting, exploring the city, searching for halal food and experiencing the Ramadan atmosphere in the UK. If you’ve ever wondered what Ramadan in London feels like, what it’s like fasting in a non-Muslim country, or how Muslims spend Ramadan in the UK — this vlog shows the real experience.

After asking my audience where I should spend the first day of Ramadan, London won the vote. I woke up before Fajr for suhoor in our small London apartment, preparing a simple pre-fast meal with dates, noodles and snacks before beginning the first fast of Ramadan. Fasting in the UK always feels unique, and this Muslim vlog captures the reality of Ramadan in London.

This video is part of my Ramadan vlog series, where I document Ramadan as a Muslim travelling and living in different places. From halal food hunting to mosque visits and daily reflections, this series shows the beauty of Islam and Ramadan in everyday life.

After waking up later feeling rested and ready for the day of fasting, we explored Kensington — one of the most beautiful areas in London. Travelling during Ramadan brings a completely different feeling to exploring cities, and Ramadan constantly reminds me of gratitude and appreciation for the blessings around us.

We visited Buckingham Palace, walked through central London and reflected on one of the biggest lessons of Ramadan — gratitude. So many people travel across the world to visit London, yet living in the UK we sometimes forget how incredible it really is.

One of the most common questions Muslims ask is:
• Is Ramadan hard in the UK?
• Are there mosques in London?
• Is halal food easy to find?
• Is there a Ramadan atmosphere in London?

We set out to find the answers by exploring local mosques and halal food spots. Unlike Muslim countries with grand mosques, many London mosques are hidden inside regular buildings, offices and apartments — yet they are full of life and community. It was a powerful reminder that Islam truly exists everywhere.

As the day continued, we explored Chinatown and Leicester Square, searching for halal food to break our fast. London is one of the best cities in the world for halal food, and during Ramadan it feels even more special knowing thousands of Muslims around the city are fasting at the same time.

Then we witnessed something incredible — the famous Ramadan lights in London turning on. Seeing “Happy Ramadan” shining in the heart of London felt surreal. Ramadan in the UK is growing every year, and this moment showed how visible and celebrated Ramadan has become.

We broke our fast with dates and water before enjoying halal noodles in Chinatown. Breaking fast in London during Ramadan felt nostalgic and reminded me of Ramadan in Muslim countries around the world.

Ramadan is a time for reflection, self-improvement and becoming better Muslims. In this vlog we share our Ramadan goals:

• Improving character
• Strengthening our faith

We ended the first day of Ramadan with a late night halal meal and reflected on how beautiful and easy the first fast had been.
