Let me be very honest.
Earlier, I never wanted to do a workshop in Surat. Somewhere in my heart, I felt that copying original sarees on powerloom was unfair to our weavers, and I felt deeply uncomfortable and disrespectful towards their hard work.

But life teaches you through people.
I started receiving so many messages on my posts saying, “Dolly, you wear such beautiful sarees, but they are very expensive, and we can’t afford them.”
That’s when something shifted inside me.

I realised—
Dolly as a person can love handloom.
But Dolly Jain, the saree draping artist, who wants everyone to fall in love with sarees, must respect both worlds—handloom and powerloom.

That understanding slowly drew me towards Surat.
Doing a workshop there, sharing my love for saree draping with Surat’s saree lovers, became a truly beautiful experience for me. It was executed so gracefully by @thestoritelerevent , the stunning sarees which the models are wearing are by @amrut_thefashionicon and their jewellery is by @charujewels which added so much soul to their grace
