Located in the refreshing and pleasant climate of Bandung, the IH Residence is the brainchild of a family who owns a large plot of land spanning approximately 5600 square meters. The family aimed to transform this expansive land into a spacious residence that would accommodate various functions while simultaneously preserving the vastness of the surrounding landscape. Situated in a low-density neighborhood, building a detached house for the family was a feasible option.

The site extends and inclines gradually from south to north. One-third of the land serves as a service area located at the front of the site, while a basement has been constructed 3 meters below the main part of the house. The design is in harmony with the elongated shape of the site, featuring a long and large structure located at the center of the land. The building is detached from any surrounding walls, allowing for cross-ventilation to occur throughout the entire structure.

The building's considerable size is counterbalanced by well-proportioned terraces, balconies, and spacious pools encircling it. To enhance its visual appeal and reduce its weight, the facade predominantly features transparent glass, which also allows the stunning surrounding landscape to be enjoyed from the inside.

Bandung, as a city, experiences high levels of rainfall annually. To combat this and to shield from direct sunlight, the house is equipped with wide eaves that span up to 6 meters. The circulation of the site was carefully planned using long ramps to ensure the design is progressive. Additionally, long corridors are complemented by reflecting pools and unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape. The green areas within the site are almost as expansive as the house itself.

By cleverly accentuating the varying heights and circulation of the space, the building takes advantage of the sloping terrain to enhance its design. The higher elevation of the northern section of the site encloses the main building, creating an intimate atmosphere while also defining its location.
