Bally AS-2518-32 Star Trek Pinball Custom Sound Board #5: Detailed Overview

This is custom sound - sound board for the Bally Star Trek pinball machine. It is a direct plug-and-play replacement for the Bally AS-2518-32 pinball sound board. Although my board can replicate the simple bleeps and bloops of the stock sound board, it is intended play custom sounds. The custom sounds are extra sounds and quotes that take over the longer stock "tunes" at the start of game, saucer eject, Bally bonus, and end of game. I've also been able to add sounds to the momentary solenoid fires (explosions to the pop-bumpers, and phasor sounds to the sling-shots). There is a background sound (Star Trek TV Theme) that plays during game play. And wait, there is more! .... There are attract sounds that play every 3 minutes between games. Basically, a whole new game play experience for this awesome vintage pinball machine.

All the sounds are stored as WAV files on the MicroSD card. It comes with a set of sounds, but you can make your own if you want. I will offer alternative sound sets on my website as other owners create them. This board has the ability to switch between 4 sound sets.

This board DOES NOT WORK IN ANY OTHER PINBALL MACHINE. It only works in the early Bally Star Trek pinball machine. I will not offer the imbedded code as I need to support this board and I cannot support other people's modifications. Believe it or not, this was NOT straight forward to design. It was very difficult to get something that worked reliability.

Speaker pops: Yes, the "Arm Photon Torpedoes" from the saucer exit and some other sounds pop the speaker when they start in my video. I have fixed this. Boards delivered after August 28, 2022 have the fix. I have WAV files on my website to fix earlier ones.
