The Himalayan sheepdog, also known locally as the Bhotia, Bangara, or Gaddi kutta and occasionally referred to as the Himalayan mastiff, is a breed of livestock guardian dog native to the Himalayas, spanning India and Nepal. The breed is primarily used as a livestock guardian, defending flocks of yak and sheep from various predators, as well as a property guard, unusually for a livestock dog.
