A 'Multi-Function Fluorescent Lantern with AM/FM Radio and Louver Fan', model MFL 9240. Brand and manufacturer are unknown; it seems like there may be a brand name on the bar-code sticker, but the pictures of the box are not clear enough to read it. There are a plethora of numbers on the back which may contain some of this information, but they don't mean anything to me.

The equipment features a twin-tube fluorescent light, a 2-speed fan, an AM/FM radio, a torch light, and flashing red emergency light with a siren. The fluorescent light is reasonably bright with good adjustable angles. The fan is reasonably powerful on high for the size, the guard can be unlocked to rotate, though I don't see what purpose that serves. The radio has surprisingly strong reception, and while the audio quality isn't horrible, the frequency response range is about what one would expect for such a small speaker. The torch light is satisfactorily bright, but the flashing red emergency light is abysmally dim and I can't fathom what someone would use the siren for.

This is a unit that I remember having back in the mid 2000s. I remember using it quite a bit, then at some point it became lost to the sans of time. Perhaps it's still buried in the house somewhere and will turn up some day, or perhaps it broke and was discarded. I do not recall.

There appears to be 2 different versions of this available, the one currently in my possession which takes a rechargeable lead-acid battery, and unit shown in the pictures which takes 6 D-cell batteries. I don't recall which version we used to have, I think it was the rechargeable one as I vaguely recall there being a power cord to charge it with inside the house.

The specifications for the majority of the unit are not listed, I have no idea what the specifications of the original AC adapter were, what wattage/size the fluorescent tubes are, what the run time of the device is, etc. I don't know how long this was sold for, but it must have been at least somewhat popular as there are a plethora of listings still on the Internet regarding replacement batteries for it.
