Hey, what's up, investors! You will NOT believe what's going on with the stock market! So, it turns out that the first trading day of the year might be the OPPOSITE of what you expect! Yeah, you heard that right! According to Deutsche Bank, if the market goes up on day one, it might actually go down over the rest of the year. But if it tanks, like it did recently, it might actually be a good sign for the next 12 months! Crazy, right?! Think of it as Opposite Day for stocks!
And speaking of things going down, the US Steel and Nippon Steel merger is officially OFF! President Biden blocked the deal citing national security concerns, and US Steel shares took a nosedive. Down over 36% in the past year! But don't worry, my investing fam, because some analysts think the materials sector, including stuff like metals, might be making a HUGE comeback in 2025! Global inflation is dropping and China might boost their economy! So, maybe instead of AI stocks, we should be looking at the basics!
