Consciousness is key in business because if you are playing a fair game with all of the stakeholders in your business, i.e. your employees, customers, vendors, investor, and your community, people are naturally going to want to do business with you.

The idea behind running a conscious business is you create win-win situations for everyone you deal with instead of always trying to get the best deal for only you and your business. When everyone you deal with feels like they win, and you do as well, your business becomes more recognized as the "go-to-business" in your industry.

This leads to a significant increase in word of mouth referrals across all of the stakeholders mentioned above and positions your business for accelerated growth. This is because people like doing business with or working for a business that strives to take care of their interests as well as it's own.

Need proof? Just look at the success of companies like Whole Foods Markets, Wegman's, Google, and Zappos, to name a few. You don't hear a lot from these companies in normal advertising channels. This is because they don't have to spend as much money in advertising as they have already developed a strong reputation in the communities they serve as "go-to-businesses" because of their conscious attitudes to everyone they serve.
