Brooks England | How to install the Sandwich Seat Adapter

Описание к видео Brooks England | How to install the Sandwich Seat Adapter

Originally conceived in the late ‘70s to allow the use of double-rail leather saddles on the very first MTBs, the Brooks Sandwich Seat Adapter remains a simple way to fit your favourite classic saddle to modern seatpost designs. Compatible with all Brooks double-rail saddles, including the B18, B66, B66S, B72, B135, B190 and most micro-adjustable seatposts on the market.

INSTALLATION

1. Remove the entire Brooks 7/8” clamp from the saddle.
2. Insert a sandwich seat adapter between the double-rail construction, on both left and right sides of the saddle by pushing with your thumbs from outside toward the centre of the saddle, with the Brooks logo facing outward.
3. Disassemble the clamping mechanism of your micro-adjustable seatpost by
removing the bolt(s) entirely. Keep all parts organized for re-assembly.
4. From the bolts supplied with the Brooks sandwich seat adapter, select the one(s) that have the same diameter as the one(s) you’ve just removed, only longer.
5. Depending on the under-head shape of the original bolt, you may need to use the semi-spherical washers included in the kit.

NB: If unsure about which bolt and which washer to use with your
seatpost, please contact the manufacturer of your seatpost to seek their
recommendation.

7. Reassemble the clamping mechanism of your micro-adjustable seatpost with the newly selected bolt(s) and, if needed, washers.
8. Insert the saddle in the seatpost clamp following the original installation
manual supplied with your seatpost.
9. Install this saddle-seatpost assembly on your bike.
10. Adjust the fore/aft position and inclination of the saddle according to your
personal needs.
11. Tighten the bolt(s) to the recommended torque according to the original
installation manual supplied with your seatpost.

WARNING: Check that the tip of the newly selected bolt is at least flush with, or better, extended beyond the threaded section of the upper part of the clamp assembly. If the bolts have been tightened to the correct torque settings as recommended by your seatpost manufacturer and the adapters are not sitting perfectly straight, the system is still safe and you can confidently sit on your saddle.
Internal tests have proven that two piece adapters, such as the Sandwich Adapter, produce less stress on the metal structure than other single-piece adapters on the market. Asymmetry and misalignment may vary between seatpost models since margins of movement can differ depending on the specific seatpost. For this reason, if the lower part of your saddle clamp allows for side-to-side movement, be sure to center it during installation.
