Описание к видео Count by 8s Skip Counting on a Hundred Chart Activity

This math presentation for students is to practice skip-counting by 8s showing a hundred chart on each slide. On the hundred chart, numbers are isolated through color, size, and highlighting to show what numbers should be said in the count by pattern. The presentation shows each skip-counting sequence forwards then backwards.

This presentation not only helps the student practice counting, particularly skip counting, but helps develop number sense as this skill transitions to repeated addition and eventually multiplication facts and fluency.

This activity can be led whole class at the carpet area as a part of morning routines, math warmups, calendar, or in small groups.

There is plenty of wait/think time between each slide. Because there is a 5 second delay between each slide, students can engage in many other activities to further support their learning.
Ideas include:
color the places on a hundreds chart to match the numbers shown in the presentation
write the numbers on a blank hundreds chart to match the numbers isolated in the presentation
*write a addition or repeated addition sentences that match the pattern (i.e. 8 + 8 = 16 or 8 +8 + 8 = 24)
discuss the pattern on the chart- What do you notice?
Make connections to other skip counting patterns- Are numbers shared?
writing the number on a white board/paper
writing the number word on a white board/paper
draw shapes/dots/counters that match the numeral in the ones place on ten frames
draw base tens blocks to represent the numeral
Get moving- clap, run in place, jump, find objects that match the number in either the ones or tens place or hundreds place.
Use math money manipulatives or draw coins to match the quantity.
Get musical- tap the number shown on xylophone/bells or piano/keyboard keys that match the number in either the ones or tens place or hundreds place.


Specific standards/objectives are listed after the title slide.
Large fonts are used for readability.
There is no audio.
