Terminologies: Entomology, Post Mortem Interval (PMI) Time since death
Bluebottle, Green bottle fly, Metallic sheen

Role of Forensic Entomologist: 1. Identification & 2. Collection of Insects, 3. Determine PMI based
on development stages, 4. Testify in court of law

Factors affecting insect development: Temperature, Location, condition of body and surrounding weather. Scavenger species, Drugs/ intoxication.

Insects of Forensic Significance: Diptera (Flies) and Coleoptera (Bettles)

Developmental stages of Insect:
Complete Metamorphosis: Eggs - First instar - Second instar - third instar - Pupa and Adult fly
Incomplete Metamorphosis: Eggs - Nymph - Adult fly
