Hawkins: A Halloween Tale

“Hawkins: A Halloween Tale” is a fan film that takes place in between the original Halloween 1978 and Halloween 2018.
When I saw Halloween 2018 I really liked it, but the characters kept stating that Michael was arrested shortly after the events of the 1978 film and I remember thinking, “Man I wish we could see how that went down.” I also enjoyed the character of Hawkins played by Will Patton, and realized an opportunity to make the story through his perspective and how he went from arresting Michael to then later deciding he made a mistake and should’ve let Loomis kill him.
I meticulously made sure details would match from the original as best as I could to avoid any continuity issues. I tried to use a lot filmmaking techniques from the original(starting with a Steadicam “one take” shot like the opening of the original, the shot over the shoulder of Michael, down to the exact font sizing used for the title and transition cards in the 1978 film) mixed in with my own style.
One of the really fun things is that because the Halloween series is constantly ignoring other films in the franchise and creating new timelines, it’s gives me a lot of material to use from the films that aren’t included within this canon, such as the dialogue from Halloween 4, which fit in so well to make that scene more authentic without reusing dialogue from the original film.
It’s a fan film made with a lot of passion and love for the series, and I hope you guys enjoy it.
