Christians hailing from old Malabar & Cochin provinces can register their Marriages within 5 days after submitting application. Travancore area is still exempted from the scope of this rule. Indian Christian Marriage Act 1872 & Cochin Christian Civil Marriage Act 1920 facilitate this special rule in the State. Christian Marriage Officers are appointed by State Government.

Almost all conditions applicable in these two Acts are same or similar to the Special Marriage Act 1954 barring 1. Notice period is only 4 days 2. Validity of notice is 2 months 3. Witnesses only two.

Applicable fee is same that of the marriages solemnized under Special Marriage Act
