Using Linux cgroups to control how processes share server resources

Busy servers - or even consumer desktops and laptops - are nearly always running multiple processes. Often, those processes will compete for limited resources, which can sometimes lead to unfortunate conflicts. One effective way to manage such competition on Linux machines is through cgroups.
