​The Oort Cloud is the gravitational boundary of our solar system. Located roughly 2,000 to 200,000 AU from the Sun, this massive sphere of ice is believed to be the source of long-period comets. The temperature here is an extreme -270°C, as the Sun's light and heat barely reach this far.
​Comets: Travelers from the Deep Past
​Occasionally, a gravitational nudge sends one of these icy fragments hurtling towards the Sun. As it gets closer, the ice sublimates, creating the spectacular tail that we know as a comet. These celestial wanderers carry the ancient history of our solar system within them.
