English version runs are done more as a goof (and a bit of nostalgia), and because, well, someone has to do it.

US/PAL versions of the game are not used for full game runs because course tickets and animals are way more expensive than the japanese. Most courses cost twice the jp price, and animals cost 3 to 15 times more. For example, Black Louie costs 100k and King Tirra costs 150k, while both are 10k on jp.

There's also no GB Transfer option on the bank in these versions (as far as I know?), so the fastest way to get all the money needed (which is around 405k depending on when you start farming) is playing betting money on vs. mode against your own file, only saving on the winning side, re-loading, and doing it all over again. The farming phase of this run took 1 hour and 57 minutes. Beach side should be the fastest course for this, but I chose Bomber Circuit because it's easier, and, well, I play that course around 40 times.

Other minor differences are the INSANE RUBBERBANDING OF CPU's (which is why mirror races are much tighter even using black louie), one extra map choice and camera angle, one less item box on Ski Course.

This was played on a PS2, with a 2.00 PS Driver, and STANDARD disc speed (because I forgot to switch it and didn't notice...).
