Prince Harry has settled his lawsuit with the publishers of The Sun and the News of the World.

He took legal action over allegations of unlawful information gathering at News Group Newspapers - but the trial has now been called off after they reached an agreement.

Harry has received a "full and unequivocal apology" from News Group Newspapers for "serious intrusion" into his private life by The Sun between 1996 and 2011, including "unlawful activities carried out by private investigators".

The publishers also apologised for "phone hacking" at the now-defunct News of the World and for intruding into the life of his mother Princess Diana.

Rupert Murdoch's firm also agreed to pay Harry substantial damages.

Harry battled for five years to bring the lawsuit to trial and said just last month that he was the only person with deep enough pockets to get 'accountability' from the press.
