How can generative AI boost productivity in all places? The role of local policies

As generative AI (Gen AI) continues to evolve, its potential to drive productivity gains across regions is an open question.

This webinar first explored the expected impact of Gen AI on productivity at global and national level, before turning to how these impacts may vary across regions. Discussions focused on the role of local labour market characteristics and the rate of Gen AI adoption by firms, as well as on the potential challenges and opportunities that may arise for different types of workers.

The webinar also considered policy measures that local governments can adopt to harness the productivity benefits of Gen AI to ensure inclusive growth. By examining these dynamics, the discussion aimed to offer actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders looking to maximise the benefits of Gen AI across diverse economic landscapes.
