SUVENDU SUBMITS RESIGNATION AS MLA FROM NANDIGRAM

KRISHNAGAR, 16 DEC: It’s a big blow for Mamata Banerjee as well as for Trinamul Congress especially ahead of the assembly polls as Suvendu Adhikari has finally submitted his resignation as MLA from Nandigram.
He came to Assembly in his own car and went upstairs to Assembly secretary room and tendered his resignation.
Later, Subhendu Adhikari lodged a complaint before the Governor Jagdeep Dhankar, alleging that police and administration apparatus in the state were trying to implicate him and his followers in criminal cases out of political motivation and vendetta.
“I am constrained to seek your intervention as constitutional head so that police and administration apparatus in the state is dissuaded from implicating me and my associate followers in criminal cases out of political motivation and vendetta”, Adhikari wrote to the Governor.
In a letter which addresses to Assembly speaker, it stated
"Please accept my resignation. I tender my resignation as a member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Please ensure that my resignation is accepted with immediate effect."
Congress MLA from Purulia, Sudip Mukherjee accompanied him to the Assembly secretary chamber.
However, the Assembly speaker Biman Banerjee today told the reporters that Mr Adhikary should have tendered his resignation to him and not too the secretary as the Assembly secretary has no jurisdiction to accept the resignation from an MLA.
