girls before we even got married.
Shopping trips, mother daughter spa
days,helping them pick prom dresses.
Her own mother had been a pageant queen,
Sarah grew up thinking that's what
mothers and daughters did together.Megan's 22 now. When she was 8,she asked for soccer cleats instead of the ballet shoes Sarah had already picked out.Sarah smile went tight, but she signed her up for ballet anyway because her book club was meeting that week
and everyone was talking about their daughter's recitals.
Megan lasted three months before she quit,
joined a wreck soccer league.
I found after that, Sarah started scheduling girls nights out
because being home meant watching Megan come in muddy from practice.
Rachel's 20th. She spent middle school in her room
playing video games with online friends
instead of going to the mall.
Sarah bought her makeup for her 13th birthday
and left teen magazines on her bed.
