On Monday, February 24th, NYU Silver School of Social Work’s Rockland County Campus cut the ribbon on a new student lounge, dedicated to the memory of alumna, Cara Dawn Haefner, MSW ‘14.

The lounge was made possible by a gift from Cara's parents, Laurie and Ralph Haefner, and a donation of space by STAC, where NYU Silver’s Rockland County Campus has been co-located since 1982. STAC representatives and many NYU Silver students, faculty, staff, and alumni joined the Haefners in celebrating the new space where students can relax, eat, and congregate between classes.

STAC's Vice President and CFO, Mr. Joseph Donini, said: “NYU Silver has been incorporated into the fabric of STAC. When the idea for this lounge came up, we thought it was wonderful. Having this space will have a tremendous impact on students and that is what it is all about. Everything is about the students.”

“I am extremely happy that Cara’s memory will live here with us,” said Dr. Aminda Heckman, NYU Silver Rockland Campus Coordinator. “I am grateful to the Haefners and STAC for enabling us to create this space in Cara’s honor.”
