This poker video from the Mastering The Fundamentals series covers everything you need to know to play the later stages of poker tournaments perfectly!

Now that you have learnt your perfect preflop ranges you will be heading to the flop with a strong range that will have lots of playability. This is where the game of poker becomes far more complex as there are infinite possibilities of boards, bet sizes & actions. Learning a good core fundamental poker strategy will help you tackle all situations that you face at the poker tables.

Jonathan talks about the terms range & nut advantage. He explains why it is important to know what they are and what the differences between them are. Gone are the days that you would put opponent’s on a specific holding. You should be basing your strategy on a range of hands that you and your opponents will be playing in certain positions and effective stack depth.

He uses PIOsolver which is a relatively new piece of software that calculates what is the Game Theory Optimal (GTO) decision. He shows you exactly how the solver would play and explains why to help you understand why certain actions are generally more optimal than others.

Jonathan also covers a whole section on how to play the bubble portion of a poker tournament profitably. As play progresses, you should give up small edges that win chips in exchange for making it more likely that you get in the money and cash in the poker tournament. This will often mean that you should longer; 3-bet with marginal hands, raise thin for value postflop, value betting thin for large amounts, bluffing for large amounts. Do not make drastic adjustments too soon! If you happen to have a big stack on the bubble then you should play aggressively on the bubble. As the medium or short stacks, you should make a point to get in the money. Remember that when you are extremely close to the money you should make extreme adjustments to guarantee yourself cashing in the poker tournament.

Jonathan also covers the optimal final table strategy and how your strategy should adjust depending on your stack size relative to the other players at the table. You should be looking to maximize the amount you win from the tournament rather than sacrificing EV for the sake of trying to win the trophy and busting out earlier than you should.
