Big data is like the main fuel for the engine that drives the research vehicle, and has been as such for the last six years – and the interest for big data is growing and growing into more and more monumental proportions. And this doesn’t just apply for companies that create data driven products and services. We’re talking about virtually all companies in any industry. The reason for this is the enormous amounts of new values that is being created when a number of data streams are connected. But where does this put Sweden?

Daniel Gillblad is a researcher and director of the Decisions, Networks and Analytics lab at SICS (https://www.sics.se/). He holds an M.Sc. in electrical engineering and received his Ph.D. in computer science in 2008, both from KTH in Stockholm. Since 2012, Gillblad coordinates the Swedish Big Data Analytics network (https://www.sics.se/projects/big-data...) and is currently directing the newly started SICS center for large scale analytics.

Daniel Gillblad gave a presentation on big data analysis from a Swedish perspective and adressed questions about future big data related challenges and opportunities for Sweden.
