Though the city is already located on a rather large Caribbean island, one of the most popular things to do in Nassau, Bahamas, once you step off that cruise ship is head to a smaller offshore island! And there are pristine islets to choose from. Two of the most visited include Blue Lagoon Island, where you can swim with dolphins, and Atlantis Paradise Island, where you can shop, dine, hit the casino, or splash around in the waterpark. If you want to snorkel or dive, Nassau has you covered, too! For example, the warm waters of the Clifton Heritage National Park are packed with incredible coral reefs, an underwater sculpture garden, and shipwrecks. In fact, at least one of the Jaws films was shot here! If exploring the culture and history of a place are more your thing, there are plenty of things to do in Nassau, Bahamas.
You can walk the plank into the city’s days as a pirate nation at the Pirates of Nassau Museum, dance your way into the fascinating culture of Junkanoo at the Educulture Junkanoo Museum or pay tribute to the Bahamas’ enslaved people by climbing the Queen’s Stairs. Taste real Bahamian rum at the 18th century John Watling's Distillery, enjoy a sweet treat or three at the Bahamas Rum Cake store on Bay Street or join a food tour to sample Caribbean rice, and steamed chicken, or a traditional fish fry.
