Tamil Nadu Legislature on Wednesday approved a motion requesting that the Scheduled Castes benefits extend to those SCs who practice Christianity. The federal government was urged in the motion championed by Chief Minister M K Stalin, which was accepted amid protest and a walkout by the BJP, to modify the Constitution to grant Dalit Christians the benefits of quota in work and education.
