Happy new year! I've been hard at work with... stuff?

Okay, to be perfectly honest, I've been spending the past few weeks meeting with friends, goofing off, and enjoying the holidays. Despite that, though, I've been making slow and steady progress on the game!

The first thing to address is that I encountered a fatal Lua error! Fun fact: Lua has a built-in limit of 200 local variables per environment, or it will refuse to run. I was expecting it to take longer before I hit that limit, but I guess it's better to refactor everything now and not kick the can down the road.

All the variables and functions are now contained inside lists, and since lists have infinite capacity, it sidesteps our issue. Easy enough to fix, though it did take a while. I'm so thankful that I know regular expressions :p

Coding crisis aside, I also did some work on the scene transitions! There's only a few needed (game → select, game → gameover), but they are necessary for the system to feel streamlined. Plus, the new animation system works remarkably well for this!

All that aside, I decided to finally record a long section of gameplay to showcase everything that's present so far. Everything works very well, barring a few graphical bugs, and the gameplay loop is feeling better with every new addition!

The next major milestone will be adding more specials and reworking some of the pre-existing ones! Right now, a lot of them don't feel right, and a few others feel woefully underpowered, so it's about time I fixed that.
