Welsh cakes are a traditional Welsh recipe made with self-raising flour, butter, an egg, sugar, a splash of milk, raisins, and lots of love. They are easy and quick to make and are freezer friendly too. They have a lovely golden brown outer crust, yet inside they are wonderfully soft. Do give them a try I'm sure you'll love them!

Ingredients

Self-raising flour 225 g / 1 cup (maida)
Caster Sugar 25 g (bareek pese cheeni)
Cinnamon powder 1/4 tsp (dar chenni powder)
Cold unsalted butter 100 g / 7 tbsp (makhan)
Sultanas/ Raisins - or a mix of both 30 g (kish mish)
Egg 1 (anda)
Milk 2 tbsp (dodh)
Flour to dust on your worktop to roll the batter
Butter to grease the pan
Topping (caster sugar and Nutella)

Tips
Don't combine the batter too much let big bits of butter stay in it.
Gently bring it together to one ball
Cook them 3-4 mins each side (don't overcook them or they’ll be dry inside)
