What is extreme ownership about?

Being sceptical about Jock Willinks book titled "Extreme Ownership" I do not know why I read it. He was getting a lot of air time and I thought, sod it, I'll listen, see what it's about.

Surprisingly, even though it is stating the bleeding obvious. I did resonate with the theme and recognised the lack of extreme ownership in some of my own failures.

To summarise. When you care about something occurring you must control the project in detail every step of the way. The principle applies to relationships, business, hobbies, management.

The key to executing extreme ownership is planning. Planning what is going to happen in minute detail in a step by step process. Getting everyone involved to understand and buy in. Then executing the steps with the leader or manager being ultimately responsible but the individuals involved also being accountable.

Never blame others.
Drop your ego. Admit you were wrong. Be humble. Yes, it is your fault.
