(31 May 2017) UK Prime Minister Theresa May reiterated on Wednesday that she wanted to see agreement on the rights of British citizens living in the European Union in response for rights of EU citizens residing in the UK.
Her comments came after a British health charity, the Nuffield Trust, warned that UK pensioners returning to the country, in case their access to healthcare abroad wasn't maintained after Brexit, could put unprecedented strain on the National Health Service.
During an election campaign visit to a fishery in Plymouth, May said it was important that the UK hadn't just given rights to EU citizens residing in the UK so a reciprocal arrangement for Brits living in the EU could be negotiated.
Critics have said that May is using EU citizens in the UK, many of whom couldn't vote in last year's referendum, as a bargaining chip at a time when their future is less than certain.
The Prime Minister also accused the Labour party and its leader Jeremy Corbyn of wanting uncontrolled migration which, she said, had put pressure on public services and undercut wages.
