The Right Honourable Joe Clark was Canada's 16th Prime Minister, serving from 1979-1980. After serving as Executive Assistant to Robert Starfield for three years, he was elected in 1972. He became the youngest Prime Minister and the first Prime Minister born and raised in the West in Canada's history. He later served as External Affairs Minister and Minister for Constitutional Affairs in Brian Mulroney's Government. Mr. Clark became federal PC Party Leader again in 1998 and served as an elected MP again from 2000 to 2004. He did not approve of the merger of the Progressive Conservative and Reform parties. Since leaving politics, Mr. Clark has led international observer teams overseeing elections, served on the non-profit Global Leadership Foundation, sat on boards of corporations and charitable organizations, acted as an international consultant, taught, authored books, and been active in international business.
