The Yeste forest fire occurred in SE Spain in July 2017, burning over 3,000 hectares. Six months later the team at Toledo University conducted UAV LiDAR drone mapping using the Routescene UAV LiDAR system. Areas with different levels of fire severity were surveyed in detail. The UAV LiDAR lasers are able to penetrate the lower vegetation and ground below. It is also possible to detect the vertical profile of individual trees. Analysis using Routescene LiDAR software was able to distinguish post fire structures in detail.
