FJ Cruiser Car Camping - Road trip to see a rare bird

Описание к видео FJ Cruiser Car Camping - Road trip to see a rare bird

I always enjoy an opportunity to do an overnight road trip in my Toyota FJ Cruiser. So, when I learned that there was a rare (for Michigan) Black-chinned Hummingbird nine hours away in Copper Harbor, I jumped at the opportunity to make the long drive and try to see it. As an avid birder, I keep a list of bird species I've seen in my home state of Michigan, and I didn't have Black-chinned Hummingbird on my state list yet. This particular bird had been spotted visiting a hummingbird feeder in a yard in the village of Copper Harbor and the homeowners had put out the welcome mat for any interested birders. I wanted to get there before dawn the following morning, so I drove until midnight and slept in the car in the woods outside of town. Fortunately I have the back of my Toyota FJ Cruiser set up to accommodate my 6'5" frame to sleep comfortably. It was mid October and the overnight low was 30 degrees Fahrenheit, but my sleeping bag kept me warm without running any heater. Come along and see if I was lucky enough to see the bird. Before heading back home, I stopped at the harbor and did some fly fishing from my float tube, hoping to experience the locally famous October Splake fishery. Spoiler alert - this was pretty much a birding trip.
