Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship at Montefiore

The Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Program at ‪@MontefioreHealthSystem‬ offers exceptional training in all aspects of adult reconstruction. Our institution performs approximately 1800 total joint replacements per year among 7 fellowship trained adult reconstruction surgeons. The fellow can expect to participate in 500-600 cases during their fellowship year. We are a tertiary referral center and there is ample exposure to primary and revision total joint arthroplasty, including complex cases such as: DDH, periprosthetic infection, fracture, and severe deformity (congenital, acquired, and post-traumatic). The fellow will be exposed to a variety of surgical approaches for total hip arthroplasty, including posterolateral, anterolateral, and direct anterior. There is an opportunity for exposure to hip preservation for interested fellows. Responsibility in operating room is progressive and based on demonstration of requisite skills. There are biweekly lectures the fellow will be expected to attend and there is an expectation that the fellow will complete 1-2 research projects, culminating in a publishable manuscript. Fellows will also be responsible for teaching and supervising residents and medical students. All fellows are required to have successfully completed an orthopedic residency program prior to fellowship and hold an active and unrestricted New York State medical license by the beginning of their fellowship year.
