Twenty years ago, Marlon Williams joined the school choir when he was 10, to get out of science. Fast forward to 2015, he won both Breakthrough Artist and Best Male Solo Artist at the NZ Music Awards. Country music is his thing. He’s good too. Just ask Willie Nelson, Matthew McConaughey or Australian star Paul Kelly. Marlon can sing. And write songs –catchy ones. Next week he will launch his 3rd studio album in Melbourne. It gave me a great excuse for a sit down with the Kai Tahu, Ngāi Tai crooner with the cute dance moves.
