Description:
Hey, I'm Lost. A video editor. I planned on releasing a video every week, but seeing that it has been 17 days from my last video, I have failed to upheld that promise. Last week I was working on an Interstellar edit where I had discovered another one of my editing weaknesses, subtitles, which is the main hindrance to that project. Hopefully I can release it in the next few days. But as I hope you can see I figured out how to make subtitles that don't burn your eyes, your welcome. I am actually REALLY happy with this edit and think it is probably one of my best one's yet. When I started I forgot to change my timeline settings to vertical, but I actually liked the horizontal resolution so I kept it. One thing that did worry me was using songs in a long form that are pretty popular (especially Gone Gone / Thank You), but as of time of uploading youtube says there should be no impact (which I think means I can still monetize if I ever get the numbers), but I do know that can change at any moment. For the thumbnail I made it in DaVinci Resolve with the help of a preset from another creator, YiaHong and added my own special sauce (color grading). I am still trying to find "my style" so tips on things that could of been improved would be much appreciated. As for the edit. How I came up with the edit pleasantly surprised me. I was listening to Spotify and Gone Gone / Thank You came up in the playlist, I had not listened to the song in a while. But when the ending came (the best part imo) I was reminded of a meme where there was an audio and clips would play that would match the audios sound. The clips normally have an action or movement in them. Then I remember a youtube channel who did what I did in my video but with clips form multiple movies. I knew if I attempted to look though all of those clips it would make my head explode so I thought of a movie that fitted my needs. Maybe something with some physical activity. So John Wick came to mind, I got the footage, marked out the punches, kicks, etc and put them on a timeline. The intro was inspired from another John Wick edit and the rest was history.
