Chess Openings: Learn to Play the Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening!

In today's video, we cover one of the weirdest chess openings ever played. However, just because the opening is different does not mean that it's bad! In fact, when white starts the game, there are 20 possible moves. The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening is the 9th most popular option (so technically above average!) and starts off with the following move:

1. b4

It is as simple as that! By playing one move, you have already played the the Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening! Many of you are probably wonder why I am giving three names for this chess opening! For some reason, some people call it the Orangutan Opening. Others call it the Sokolsky Opening. And, finally, the rest go with the Polish Opening. Whichever opening you call this, we hope that you enjoy this video. The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening has good chess strategy, chess moves, chess ideas, chess theory, chess moves, chess principles, chess traps, and chess tricks that can help you win more games. However, the big question is, why 1. b4? Well, with the Larsen's Opening, black is able to take control of the center with e5 and Nc6, but the The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening throw that plan out as we have so much space on the queenside and b5 ideas in the air. The The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening is also a good chess opening for beginner chess players, and a good chess opening for intermediate chess players. This is so because it can help you think outside the box, think creatively, and learn to navigate positions on your own. Most openings have similar chess opening strategy but the The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening throws all of that out the window by taking a different approach. There are also many tricks and traps which the opponent is usually not ready for, and the The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening is one of the hardest chess openings to go up against. I myself would rather go against 1. e4 or 1. d4 than 1. b4! Whenever you play this top tier chess opening for white, there is a 99% chance you are going to be much more comfortable with the chess opening theory than your opponent. If you want to improve at chess and win games against higher rated players, the The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening might be for you! Many may wonder why I call this a top tier chess opening for white, and I do so because hardly anyone knows what to do against it. The chess opening strategy, chess opening theory, chess opening tricks, chess opening traps, and chess opening principles are much different than traditional lines and variations, but it works. Similar to the Crab Opening, it looks absolutely insane, but all of a sudden, you are the one enjoying a better middlegame position. The The Polish Opening / Orangutan Opening / Sokolsky Opening is also a very easy chess opening to learn. There are some lines and variations which would be good to memorize, but you can play this opening and put your own spin on it.
