Odin's Coal Shovel - Intermediate Blacksmithing

In this video, I turn the forged Odin head from my previous video into a shovel handle. Various chisels and punches are utilized to create a decorative motif along its length. Half rounds, teardrops, and birds-eye punches are some of the more exciting shapes used to achieve the effect. I also, then, make a shovelhead from 1/8" thick steel, shaping it hot using dishing and raising techniques more typically used on thinner sheet metal. The two pieces are then riveted together, forming an outrageously heavy-duty coal shovel for my forge.
