After using the Surface Pro 11 as a daily laptop for five months, it has proven to be a near-perfect device for content creators. From tasks like drafting, designing, and photo editing to light video editing, the Surface Pro 11 handles it all efficiently. Notable performance upgrades include smoother operations in apps like DaVinci Resolve (now fully ARM-compatible) and Lightroom, with Adobe Premiere Pro also available on the Creative Cloud through emulation. While we await an official ARM version of Premiere Pro, there are hopeful updates about Google Drive compatibility with ARM laptops. Wear and tear have taken a toll on the Flex keyboard, especially in the blue Alcantara finish, which developed yellowish stains despite limited contact. If you’re considering the Flex keyboard, be aware that color choice affects longevity—the black option might be more resilient, while the gray may need regular cleaning. Performance-wise, the Surface Pro 11’s 16GB RAM model manages 1080p and short 4K edits but may lag with 10-bit H.264 and H.265 footage in DaVinci Resolve. Adobe Premiere Pro fares better with 10-bit footage but occasionally drops frames. For frequent 4K editing, the 32GB RAM variant is highly recommended to handle video editing demands more efficiently.

The Surface Pro 11 excels in multitasking, with excellent battery life lasting up to 9-11 hours for regular tasks, although more demanding video work shortens it to about 5 hours. The kickstand’s sturdiness and versatile design enhance the experience, allowing easy transitions between tablet and laptop modes. With its bright, high-refresh display and silent fan operation, it’s a great choice for both creative professionals and general users. Although minor issues with the Flex keyboard and other quirks exist, the Surface Pro 11’s dual functionality and performance make it a solid, adaptable choice for those seeking an ARM-based laptop solution.
